What to do when laid up in bed with cramps.....

I am crampy and wilted....(boring girl whine) anyway....wow can you believe what I saw yesterday?

I saw.....Boston Legal....ok, well perhaps not ground breaking but they did a Polygamy episode in its second season.episode, Word Salad Days, in it a man with two wives (Separate houses next door) their husband is just a jolly but dim chap, completely overwhelmed by the talkative and assertive women in his relationship.  One was a professional, the other a homemaker, they loved their life, their lawyer supported them, even the Judge (female) was especially sympathetic (BL is a comedy Drama legal programme, like another Kelley production,  Ally McBeal) and the Poly man (convicted of bigamy) was recommended for probation on condition that he gets a divorce so he was not breaking the law, because the Prosecutor (M) admitted to the Defence (F) that he did not want to see him jailed.

OMG...............A mainstream TV programme where the Polygamists are not weak, zealots, sex addled or desperate.  It has to be noted that they were presented as secular though and would probably be considered by those of us in the know as a closed polyamorous vee but never mind the semantics, it was a great pro-poly episode. David E Kelley's legal shows  have tackled Polygamy before, where the premises was almost identical but the attitudes and outcomes were vastly different.in the twenty year scope from 1986 to the 2006 Boston Legal episode.
Perhaps it shows a progression on DL Kelleys part or  perhaps mainstream TV in general?

First was a 1986 LA Law episode, femme was miserable and doing it to keep her man! It was sad, dour and miserable. Apparently the episode had something infamously sexual in it but to be honest all I remember was the annoying cop out to the Polygamy story.

In 1993, Picket fences aired  "Nuclear Meltdown" where a very religious schoolgirl is found out to be pregnant, first they thought it was an incest situation but then the programme does a huge about turn revealing that not only is she a wife, not a daughter but she is 18 rather than a minor!  The judge insists on pleading it out on the grounds that the definition of what a family is, is changing!   Strange humour ending in that episode is a regular character introducing a pair of twins as his 'girlfriends'.
