Reality check

I woke up this afternoon (yes, body clock is so screwed up) with a shock, my dreams, were so vivid, so real, I was, for a few seconds surprised to find myself in my bed. I had to make a running list through the particulars of my life to remind myself who I was and what the heck I was doing.....

Sometimes, I feel my country needs that so...very....badly.

For those of you not in the know (which is probably everyone) my mother was raised in Stamford HIll, a very Jewish neighbourhood in NE London, it is an old town, part of the one time, prosperous Non-conformist community which included people like Mary Wollestonecraft.  They built   huge town houses that were eventually divvied up and made into flats and rental properties for the new immigrants.

Over the years Stamford Hill has become more and more frummier (devout) and the families have grown more large, the houses are been refitted back into their original state so the large Charedi families have space to grow and there they have been for many years, keeping to themselves but growing outwards at an exponential rate. 
The Jewish media say that the future of British Jewry is Frum, but mainstream Britain has not a clue about this, nor are they aware of the extremism, intolerance and high level of misogyny which plagues Israel's Charadi neighbourhoods. Charedi Birthrates are so high, families with 10+ children are not rare and, for the most part, they exist mostly, or entirely off of benefits.  Living a Frum life means a man needs to be available to pray and he usually can't do that and work for gentiles too.  Benefit cuts may hit the community hard, but who would know about them, their lifestyle and their needs ?  Only the people who live there, their MP and the local paper it seems.

Compare that compassionate report and, meagre and non scathing comments with this nearly entirely theoretical report by the nasty tabloid the Daily (Seig Heil) Mail about how Muslim men could exploit the benefits system because Islam allows Polygamy and these women can be allowed benefits as a single parent because the marriages are not legally recognised.  In this poor excuse for journalism, the writer claims some Asian social workers said there are more Polygamous marriages than people think without providing evidence at all, however, Asian people said so,  so it must be true.....

It also contains this gem:
Men also cheat the system by bringing brides from abroad as nannies for their children, or as carers for a sick relative. The bride gets a year’s visitors’ visa, disappears into a tight-knit local community, and is entitled to receive welfare hand-outs.

Sue Reid seems oblivious to the fact that illegal immigrants are not entitled to benefits and if she has 'disappeared' into the community she is off grid and not known to the authorities to even claim benefits!!! Duh.
What an ignorant and moronic piece of writing, entirely consistent with the DM of course but even of a  lower standard than usual.
Look at some of the 400+ comments vilifying these (unsubstantiated) 20,000 men as disgusting sexual perverts and fraudsters that should be locked up. 

Then we have a situation such as Mick Philpot, who has tragically lost five children in a house fire, he was all over the news at one time (I missed the bru haha) because he lived in what we would describe as a Poly relationship.  His wife, girlfriend and many children.  He had the audacity to ask the council for a bigger home than the 3 bedroom semi.  Seems he was turned down and instead became a bit of a local celebrity once the tabloids got hold of them.  According to the rag the Poly relationship fell apart because the girlfriend (now referred to as Mistress to make it sound even more sordid) wanted a ring.  The worse thing is it is she who has been arrested for the murder of those five babies, along with a unnamed male.

Now, I am still recovering from the shock at the idea that a woman, no matter how angry at a man, can set fire to a home she lived in,  with children she lived amongst.  It is beyond thinking.  The father of the children, is constantly referred in headlines as father of 17 and it is made out to look like 17 children lived in the house, but it is actually the case that he had five children with his wife and four with his girlfriend, she and her kids had actually moved out and there were only eight people who lived in the house on the night of the fire, only his wife's children, the eldest is from a previous relationship, the younger five who died, are Mr. Philpots.

The comments are, thankfully, all sympathetic, so at least some of the DM readers have some compassion.

There is nothing that could be said about this case that would not sound flippant, five little children are dead.  It isn't a lighthearted thing.
Polyagony doesn't even cover it.  I really hope that examples like this put to rest the idea that Poly is all sweetness and light if only you could...just.....find.....someone!!

Maybe we all need a reality check.
