Canada just got a little less safe for Polygamists...

Winston Blackmore has been charged along with another man specifically for Polygamy (although there are other charges amongst the group related to 'trying to remove a child from Canada' but it is the charge of Polygamy that concerns me). 

When Canada upheld their Polygamy law they said that they would not go after Polyamorists because we don't attempt to formalise our relationships by a marriage ceremony.....but actually a LOT of Polyamorists have commitment ceremonies, a lot have handfastings.....I knew it was a bad idea when the CPAA lauded the result as a win for Polyamorists....it isn't a win for all of us, it is only a win for those who practice their Polyamory in certain, non threatening to the status quo, ways....

 VANCOUVER- Four members, including two leaders, of a fundamentalist Mormon community have been formally charged by the B.C. Criminal Justice Branch for alleged polygamy and removing children under 16 from Canada.

 The frustrating thing is that WB has left the FLDS Church (losing many of the wives he had in the process) and they now live openly and happily without the crazy cult like behaviours that are associated with the FLDS.  But the govt. having already had the case against them thrown out in '09 are now deciding to have another go out of it now that the Anti Polygamy law has been validated by the recent Supreme Court ruling.
