Psm# 10 - Don't come across as defensive about money

"If you are looking for a sugar daddy I am not your guy"

I think it is useful to remind ourselves that although large Polygamous families like the Browns and Dargers make a point to say they couldn't possibly be a one salary family, they (and many other Polygamists) take pains to point out that Polygamous families offer up the opportunities for choice, some mothers may want to work (for money or self satisfaction) and some prefer to stay home.  Having one stay at home mother obviating the need for institutionalised child care is  also considered a primary benefit of a Polygamous lifestyle so why, when women are stating that this is an opportunity they would like to take advantage of, are they being seen as Gold Diggers?

Also, in the case of some Polygamous cultures, like Islamic Polygamy it is incumbent on the husband to provide for his wives, therefore working outside the home would always be a choice (and, incidentally, her money earned is hers to dispose of as she wishes, it is not to be used as family money) so therefore, for some women the opportunity to be financially provided for, by her husband is a cultural expectation of the Patriarchal order and not necessarily purely mercenary.

It is unpleasant being rejected, especially for something as impersonal as money but avoid statements like calling women Gold Diggers or saying they want a sugar daddy.
